Ed started playing the trumpet when he was 10 years old and  was voted ‘most promising young soloist’ in the BBC big band  competition when he was 17. He then went on to be a finalist in the  ‘Young Jazz musician of the year’ competition whilst studying at the Royal Academy of Music (at which he was awarded a scholarship) and graduated in 1999.

He enjoys playing a wide variety of music with a wide variety of musicians. He has worked and recorded with artists including Mike Skinner and Kano (The Streets), Enya, Jools Holland Big band, Queen Emily (Later with jools Holland), Dave Holland (Miles Davis band), Kenny Wheeler, Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones), Terry Wogan, David Essex and Alan Titschmarsh!…

Ed has performed at many prestigious music venues including The Albert Hall, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz club, The royal festival hall, Brecon Jazz festival, London Jazz Festival, Ealing Jazz festival, North Sea jazz festival and many more. Ed has been the main trumpet player for Ambassador since the band formed and continues to bring the funky edge and a whole load of character to the stage!
