David and Victoria Ornstein, Jewish Wedding at Bath Assembly Rooms – 21st April 2013

“When Victoria and I were looking for a band to play at our wedding, we searched far and wide with little success. The aim was to find a brilliant, modern, vibrant, exciting and reasonably-priced group of between nine and 12 members who would help create the best night of our lives. Nobody fitted the bill, nobody met all of our requirements, nobody was perfect. Until, that is, we came across Ambassador. If you think the website, promos and photos are good, just wait until you hear them live. Without question, the best pound-for-pound event band on the market.
“From day one, band manager and drummer, Geoff Walker, was a pleasure to deal with. He was available pretty much 24-7 to answer questions, deal with concerns and talk us through exactly how things would work on our big day. He arranged for us to come and listen to the band a couple of times before the wedding, was flexible in adapting to the demands of our event (which required the band to play four separate sets of different genres with breaks in between) and happily catered for our special requests (first dance, birthday, national anthems etc). We started by booking a 9-piece band, later upgraded to a 10-piece and a few weeks before the wedding Geoff offered us an 11th member free of charge (X-Factor star John Adeleye). The band was excellent value for money and worth every penny.
“It was a Jewish wedding and, despite not being part of the clique of bands who dominate the UK Jewish function market, Ambassador know precisely what they are doing and there were wild scenes during the Israeli dancing at the start of the evening! Yair (keyboard) is Israeli and so he leads the way on the Israeli music, but the rest of the band sing and play all the tunes perfectly. Ambassador also price themselves far more fairly than the more well-known Jewish function bands and are considerably less snotty and arrogant than those we came across while planning our wedding.
“They can cater for all of your musical needs but their Motown, classic and modern pop (right up to date) is unbelievable, and they can also do brilliant jazz swing while food is being served, for some relaxed dancing or whatever. There is a great camaraderie among the group, they radiate energy and all of them look and sound the part. We were pleasantly surprised that they changed outfits a couple of times during the night (very swanky and professional) and a couple of the vocalists came down on to the dancefloor to sing amongst everyone dancing during the night.
“Warren, the sound engineer, was on site setting up hours in advance and the band all arrived in good time for sound checks etc but there was no significant noise despite us having a drinks reception next door. Warren makes sure everything runs smoothly (he monitored the volume levels to ensure we didn’t set off the noise limiter at our venue) and played out our pre-recorded mix CDs from a laptop when the band were on breaks. He also provided microphones for the speeches and our Master of Ceremony.
“It sounds like we’ve been paid to say this but we haven’t, it’s the truth. We don’t have enough good words to say about Ambassador and neither did our guests – everyone was raving about them. We feel extremely lucky that we came across the band and would heartily recommend them to anyone. You won’t be disappointed… if fact, it will be the best decision you ever made.”
